Summer Strings 2010

- Summer Strings is a unique day camp combining study of classical string orchestra, traditional fiddle music, and regular old camp fun.
- Students should have experience playing and reading music on violin, viola, cello or bass.
- Open to students currently (’09-’10) in 3rd to 10th grades.
- Orchestras at four playing levels rehearse and perform music from beginning to advanced levels (NYSSMA levels 1-6).
- Fiddle classes learn traditional tunes from a variety of cultures by ear, often adding improvisation, singing, harmonies, choreography and unique arrangements.
- Daily performances include the Summer Strings faculty orchestra, guest fiddle artists, and student fiddle and orchestra concerts.
- Daily activities include Music Jeopardy, soccer, kickball, spud, water games, frisbee, indoor games, and once weekly, a community dance.

Financial Aid
A limited amount of need-based Financial Aid is available. Please contact us or download an application from our website.

Waiting List
*** If you would like to be added to our waiting list, please send in your registration form and $25 deposit per week desired. For the best chance at a slot, please let us know any and all weeks that your child can attend.
In the event that a space opens, we will contact you immediately.
If at any time you choose to be removed from the waiting list, please let us know and we will refund your $25 deposit. If no spot opens for your child in the week(s) you chose, we will refund your deposit. Deposits are not refundable to those who decline an open spot, so please let us know if your summer plans change!
We process our waiting list on a rolling basis, so spaces can sometimes open up to the weekend before camp starts!
